I get strong addictive drugs from the VA here in Montana, the docs think that is the answer to all your problems. Keep the poor bastard medictated and he will be able to wait his turn to get the real treatment he or she needs. That is a crock! I have to cycle the meds they give me.
I'm waiting for a spinal fusion, so don't think I'm not hurting, you just cant give in because the meds I get are Valium and Vicodin. The Vicodin are 500Mg each and I have to take 2 every four hours and you only get 60 at a time sometimes 30 at a time and the Valium are 25Mg and I have to take those 4 times a day just to be able to be mobile. Even then I don't take them like I should.
The problem is you just have to wait so long for surgery when this should have been taken care of before I was discharged, but it wasn't they new I was broke and needed a fusion but wanted to save money at my expense!!!
So now I am suffering like a lot of other vets. I just cant give in to all there drugs and when you do need them you have to drive a 100 miles just to get some relief for 7 days. Then it is off the meds for as long as you can and believe me it takes a toll on the ones you love when your in so much pain and the slightest thing sets you off your like a raging bull. So please thank the ones you love and for there support.
WE ALL KNOW WE ARE THE FORGOTEN ONES NOW!!!! THAT WE ARE KNOW LONGER GOOD TO THE MILITARY SERVICE WE ALL SO LOVED AT ONE TIME!!!
I know there are a lot of you out there that are suffering like myself but please don't let the VA win this battle keep your wits and thought and hang in there be the thorn in there side!!
Hope to hear from other vets because this is all new to me and I seen a VA rehab counselor yesterday and he told me he wasn't sure that I would ever be able to work again if they do to the surgery that I need. That is not all, I cannot collect unemployment either, and not sure I will get disability from social security. I am living off of the little severance pay that I got when I was tossed out like a used rag and having to pay the severance back to the VA so I only get $205.00 a month, and my wife is disabled and she only gets 800.00 a month. Now if I would have know that I would be in this way after serving my country not once but twice i would have told you your crazy but the reality of it all is I'm suffering in more ways than one for serving my country!!!!
This is not the way we should be treated and for those who don't know they're in for a rude awakening. Also the military should educate their troops in how to do a proper medical discharge. This way a person would not have to wait 10 months of being treated like trash, to get out of the service. I got helped out by a warrant officer that was being meded out as well. Now I am like the rest of the Vets taking a number and waiting in a very long line just to be handed some damn pills and not getting the treatment that I desperately need.
