A Letter to Lieberman & Mark:
My case has been has been on appeal for over 35 years. The American Legion was one organization that never could help me, because of the way that the VA would always keep an appeal active. I have several appeals out there now. The VA has them on hold until they reach a decision on my unemployability. Three times this year alone, I have been told on the phone by a lady from the VA, that my file was on the decision officers desk open and being decided on, and the I would be sent mail about the decision the very next day. After a few days of no word from them, I would start calling them (another story). I was told, all three times that the decision officer could not make a decision, and has put my file aside to work on other cases, until he can get back to mine.
I have been on SSI 100% disability since 1975. I'm on crutches, I'm 57 years old, I take morphine and codeine to help control the pain. (among other drugs that are sent to me by the VA). Where is their problem?
Thank you
Mike H

Their Response:
It's pathetic how inept the agency is. I know it takes forever. Unfortunately, the VA is going to take its time, and there isn't a whole lot you can do about it, except wait. I've filed writs of mandamus in Court and they usually get denied. Hang in there and hope the result will be worth the wait. I do suggest you always document each call, noting names, dates, and time of call. etc. as far as interacting with the VA is concerned.
